Elvis House
Sarasota, Florida
Jim Reese was born the same year as Elvis Presley and says that the first time he heard Elvis on the radio it changed his life. Well, immediately -- he had a long career as a gym teacher before he retired, became an Elvis impersonator, and turned his home into "Graceland South," filled with Elvis memorabilia.
The public isn't invited inside -- which is a shame -- but you can admire the house from the end of the driveway: it has metal gates with Elvis silhouettes, a full-color life-size statue of Elvis performing in his famous in gold lame jacket, and a mural of the real Graceland on the garage door, which you can see if Jim's RV isn't parked in front of it. Also out in front is a large white seahorse from the Lido Casino in Sarasota, which was bulldozed in 1969. It was where Jim met his wife, Judy, who is the brains behind much of the Elvis decoration.
