George W. Bush: Time Travel Baseball Guy
Williamsport, Pennsylvania
In Williamsport, home of the Little League Baseball World Series, bronze President George W. Bush leans on fence rail between baseball immortals Jackie Robinson and Cy Young, presumably watching a Little League game. Cy Young died in 1955 when Bush was nine years old.
The sculpture, by Matt Glenn, was unveiled in August 2022. Robinson had been dead for 50 years, so Bush was the headline speaker at the artwork's dedication ceremony. He called himself an "old Little Leaguer" and complemented the artist. "Most sculptors," he said, "make me look like Alfred E. Neuman."
