An unusual outdoor in-ground swimming pool is sandwiched between the Big Texan Steak Ranch restaurant and its associated Big Texan Motel. The pool is shaped like Texas. The outline of the state of Texas is obvious, stylized to account for the realities of construction and safe swimming spaces. The motel nicely resembles a garishly painted old west town. And if there was any question what state you were in when you snapped a picture, the pool deck is designed to resemble the lone star Texas flag.

Do not swim immediately after consuming one of the famous 72-oz. steaks next door.
