I returned to Monkey Island in 1995 during my 40 year high school reunion. It appeared much of the zoo had fallen on hard times; perhaps funding had fallen off? I will never forget those wonderful days exploring the Park and Zoo. [Tom Mc, 02/19/2009]
Independence, Kansas - Monkey Island I found the castle on Monkey Island was still in fine shape and even though the castle and the island were small, it was kinda cool to see. The Ralph Mitchell Zoo was worth the drive, all in all. It has a fantastic kiddie land playground with it's own castle and lots of animals to climb on and around. And the best part....it's all free! :) [Meg, 04/24/2006]
