Address:: 625 N Galvin Pkwy, Phoenix, AZ
Directions:: Papago Park. East edge of the city, between Tempe and Scottsdale. I-10 exit 153. North on Hwy 143/Hohokam Expy for two miles, then take exit 4 onto Washington St. East one mile, turn left onto 56th St., turn right onto Van Buren St., turn left onto Galvin Pkwy. the entrance to Papago Park will be on your right.
Hours:: Park open daily, dawn-dusk. (Call to verify) Local health policies may affect hours and access.

Hole-in-the-Rock

There are some cool trails worth hiking that go around other buttes (and one up to Governor Hunt's pyramid tomb) if you're up for it. Papago was a US National Park for a couple of years in the early 20th century. If you get there early enough in the morning, you can watch the sunrise from the rear of the hole. It fills up fast, but most people take a picture and leave, so you may get some time there yourself. You can hear the zoo animals occasionally.

The parking lot nearest to it is currently closed. There is another lot across the street that is open and offers a decent view. There were people that climbed up to the hole when I visited.

The walk up to the Hole-in-the-Rock from the parking lot is not far, no water or hiking gear needed. There are covered picnic tables and public bathrooms nearby.
