Popeye Park. I-40 exit 12 onto US 71 south. Go through the traffic light, bear left, then turn right onto Fayetteville Ave./Hwy 162 into downtown. The Park is at the other end of town, on the right.

If you want to get a good photo of Popeye, make sure you get to the park before sun starts getting lower into the West. There are no trees or anything to block the suns rays from going straight into your camera lens if you want that full frontal shot of the sailor man. On the other hand, all that spinach seems to have produced in Popeye other physical attributes that can only be enjoyed from the rear.

The park's mural appears to be almost finished and makes a nice contribution to the garden display. At this time though, there is still scaffolding in the way of getting the best photos of the entire park. [Gary Epperson, 09/08/2011]
