Nipper the RCA Dog

The bit about the "Victrola box and horn" having been removed from the building is probably wrong. I have lived in Albany since 1983 and have never seen or heard any evidence that ther ever were there. Looks like from the beginning it's been only the dog on the building.

Nipper the RCA Dog

The old RCA Victor dog Nipper is still atop the former RCA building in Albany, NY. One of only two giant Nippers remaining - the other is, or was, in Baltimore. The Victrola box and horn were taken down from this Albany building many years ago, but subsequent owners have continued to maintain Nipper.

March 2006: David Cranston points out that the building was never owned by RCA, but instead by the "RTA Corporation."

Nipper the RCA Dog

There has been a four-ton statue of Nipper, the RCA dog, on top of the (currently) Arnoff Moving and Storage Co, since 1954. It's one of the better portions of the Albany skyline.

Directions:: Arnoff Moving and Storage Co. North side of the city, near the river, in the warehouse district. I-787 exits 4A or 4B west to Broadway, then right (north) about ten blocks. Nipper is on the east side, just north of Tivoli St.
