Winslow, Arizona - "Standin' on the Corner" Park I've been a long time Eagles fan and I put this trip on my "bucket-list." I finally made it! I drove over 1200 miles on the Mother Road (Rte 66). It took me 4 days, but what a trip.....I went east from Kingman, AZ. Luckily I found some people to take my picture "standin' on the corner." [DaverB, 04/17/2009]
Winslow, Arizona - Standin' on the Corner Park Standing on the Corner Park was a treat on our Route 66 trip. Natives were very friendly and offered to take our picture while we posed next to the life size statue of '70s man. The park has great murals painted to look like a reflection in a window. An antique flat bed Ford has been added to the park. For some reason the flat bed Ford has a giant fiberglass bulldog standing in the bed. I am guessing that it is a school mascot. Take it easy. Winslow, Arizona - "Standin' on the Corner" Park Here's a shot of the "Standin' on the Corner" Park in Winslow, Arizona. It's
across the street from the photo you already have posted. And I don't really think the statue
is actually supposed to be Jackson Browne, just an everyman with a guitar.
[Dean Jeffrey, 11/28/2002][RA: January 2005 - Larry Adams reports that "on October 18, 2004 the building on which the mural of the girl driving the 'flat bed Ford' was gutted by fire. Only the outside wall remains. Although the citizens of Winslow have vowed to rebuild, currently a chain-link fence surrounds the corner including the statue, Route 66 Attraction sign and of course the mural."]
