Abe Lincoln never visited South Dakota, but his robot is part of a fake 1880s South Dakota main street, built by a retired school teacher. Wild West robots and cryptic displays, too.

1880 Cowboy Town
Found this with the iPhone app, stopped and entered the store, smelled it, and left -- feeling a little creeped out. Our ten-year old daughter caught wind of what we had just left, and all four children wanted to go back, so we did. It was educational, if not a teeny bit cryptic. Comanche the Ghost Horse was a huge favorite, and Abe Lincoln's speech left us, well, speechless. We are glad we went back. This is road tripping at its best!

We were 20 miles past this exit when my son read about this place in the iPhone app and convinced me to turn around. It was well worth going out of our way for. Dean, the 80 year old proprietor, was friendly and full of interesting tidbits about South Dakota. And the animatronic displays were all we'd hoped for and more.
