West edge of the city. I-295 exit 5A onto Thompson's Point Rd, or exit 5 onto Fore River Pkwy, then left onto Thompson's Point Rd. Follow Thompson's Point Rd across the train tracks, to the end. Parking lot on the left. Look for the Bigfoot statue out front.
Hours:
Summer daily 11-6. Off-season closed Tu. Local health policies may affect hours and access.

Spacious exhibit is in a beautiful building. It exceeded my expectations. I particularly liked the display of crypto-inspired alcohol brands.

International Cryptozoology Museum

The world began to take monsters seriously - as a tourist attraction, anyway - with the opening of the International Cryptozoology Museum on November 1, 2003. The Portland, Maine museum covers a menagerie of fantastic beasts, from celebrity cryptids like Nessie to less-familiar horrors such as the Mongolian Death Worm. Its most popular exhibit with kids is a ponderous pile of Bigfoot poop.
