Boy with the Leaking Boot
Here is yet another statue of the Boy and His Leaking Boot. This particular sculpture first appeared in 1890 at the Broadwater Hotel in a fountain at the entrance to the Natatorium and was a fixture there until 1935 when a series of earthquakes severely damaged Helena and destroyed the once exotic resort.
Today, the Boy can be seen inside the U.S. Bank building on Last Chance Gulch, along with a fine painting showing the Broadwater Hotel and natatorium. Unfortunately, the fountain is no longer working. The bank personnel are most accommodating and even allow photographs of the Boy.[Phil Pasquini, 08/01/2010]
