Lloyd, Florida - Johnny Donutseed

I live close by. Johnny Donutseed still hoists a big doughnut and sips from his giant coffee cup. [Linda Lawler, 11/10/2009]

Spotted this guy in Lloyd, Florida, just east of Tallahassee. He's wearing a BP hat and holds a cup of coffee and a giant doughnut. Ironically, the sign next to him says "SHRIMP." [Jack Brown, 03/24/2007]

There's the Johnny Donutseed in Lloyd, FL (exit 32 on I-10). He's about 9-10 feet tall [previously reported 25 ft tall!] and sad to say, not very well done. He's dressed as a BP service station employee (the gas-o-mart he's in front of) and drinking a cup of coffee while holding a donut in his right hand. I thought the ponytail was a nice touch. Johnny Donutseed is 25 feet tall, made of fiberglass. He stands mutely facing the east and state road 59 , a throwback from a more prosperous time, presumably advertising what is now the Big Bend hotel/motel/snack bar/gas station and resturant. He is not a true "Muffler Man", or if he is, he's the leisure-version. He wears blue jeans; has a cup of coffee in one one hand; and a donut in the other. His hat resembles a cross between a cooking pot and a beaver-skin cap. Over his shoulder is a square knapsack that I've decided is where he keeps his donut seeds. Now that Johnny Donutseed is aging poorly from over 20 years in the humid Florida sun, his face seems somehow pained, an expression rivaling the strange dour and frozen look of Easter Island statues, yet with a country bumpkin flair.
