Huge Black and White Cow On May 15, 2012, "Elsie" the 12-foot-tall cow was moved from the old Gas City Headquarters in Frankfort to a new site in Mokena named The Creamery. She had been Gas City's mascot since 1966, a symbol that a gas station chain really did sell dairy products (selling milk at a gas station was a novelty in the 1960s). She originally stood on the roof of Gas City's first station on 55th and Pulaski in Chicago until she crashed through the roof in 1976. After recovery she was moved to headquarters, then when the company went out of business in 2010 she "grazed" at her former owner's home until the The Creamery "mooo'ved" her to Mokena.
