Make sure to speak with the young lady behind the desk: She is a history lover and not only has a lot of knowledge of the pieces in the museum, but the background of McKinley and his administration. She graciously explained how L. Frank Baum's The Wizard of Oz is a rich allegory for the McKinley presidency and the gold standard, as well as some quick notes on how some of the other books related. Not the first time I had heard about this, but certainly the most detailed. In just a few minutes, I learned a great deal that I hadn't previously known.
