- Bideawee Pet Memorial Park. Exit 28 south from the Southern State Parkway to Wantagh Ave. Bear right, go to the fifth traffic light [Beltagh Ave.], make right. Opposite Wantagh High School. Checkers' grave is way toward the back, a brownish stone usually flanked with small American flags.

Grave of Checkers, Nixon's Dog
Checkers, the cute cocker spaniel that saved Richard Nixon's political career in 1952, is buried in Long Island's Bide-a-Wee Pet Cemetery. His grave is still sometimes decorated with small American flags.

Easier way to locate grave is to enter at lot 20 and continue to walk straight until you approach a large bush on the righthand side. Checkers' grave is the second tombstone on the right, directly in front of the bush.
