Not at all hard to find, as it's right next to Sunrise Highway, directly in front of the ticket office. Easily spotted when you pull into the parking lot.

Roxey the Railroad Dog Grave

The little stones placed on top of Roxey's tombstone is an old Jewish custom to show that she is still visited and loved. Until the 1960s a little water pipe would fill the bowl for other strays, which back then were a familiar sight. Sunrise Highway was under a canopy of trees until it was widened.

If you park at the Merrick Train Station/pick up and go to the third entrance, you will see a firemen memorial. If you are at the sign, then walk across the street to a tree. Go two bushes past and there, almost unseen, is the gravestone marker.
