Bicycle Wheel Rim Dome
On a busy boulevard in the Riverdale neighborhood in Whitehorse stands a giant, lace-like dome built entirely of bicycle wheel rims by local artist Phillipe LeBlond. LeBlond owned a bike shop for a time and amassed a huge number of discarded wheels, which he then used to create several different structures (domes and fences), before assembling them into the five-meter-wide dome that stands in his front yard. The dome also houses a table and hassocks built of rims, and shelters a live birch tree that is clearly learning to negotiate the space as it grows.
