Shoe Tree

The shoes have spread to nearby trees (some are short and kids may be able to hang the shoes on low branches). Shoe tossing can be tricky -- practice at a safe place first. Be aware that it's next to a busy/fast highway if you have kids.

Roadside Shoe Tree

My wife and I were returning home from photographing the bald eagles nesting at Shiloh Battlefield in Savannah, Tennessee, when we passed a tree full of shoes on the west-bound side of US Hwy 72. I'd put the location somewhere near "smack-dab in the middle" of Luka, Mississippi and Tuscumbia, Alabama.

This particular tree has been sporting shoes since around 2008.
