Forest City, Iowa: Big Blue Steer and Totem Pole

Blue ox.

Big Blue Bovine (and Friend)

A large fiberglass steer, about nine feet tall at the shoulder, stands by the roadside on Highway 69 just South of Forest City. Once painted blue, he now looks like he has a bad case of mange.

A few hundred feet down the road is an old tree that has been carved into a totem pole. It, too, has seen better days, with one of the wings from the top figure broken off and leaning against the pole.
