Niagara Falls, New York: Love Canal

1950s neighborhood built atop a toxic waste dump. Abandoned in the 1970s, now a ghost town. Drive the empty, overgrown streets. A few houses remain, some still occupied.

Directions:
East edge of the city. I-190 exit 21A. Drive east on the LaSalle Expy for one mile. Take the exit toward NY-384 S./Buffalo Ave. Go through the stop sign and continue paralleling the freeway for one mile. Turn left (no stoplight) onto 102nd St. Cross under the freeway and north into Love Canal.

An old toxic dumps ground where they built a neighborhood called Love Canal. They had to abandon and now there's sidewalks with steps going to nowhere left. [Doug Radigan, 10/26/2014]
