In your section on hard and soft drinks, you briefly mentioned a drinking fountain dedicated to Carry Nation in Wichita. That fountain is now in a little pocket park, where drunks occasionally like to catch a nap. I always found that ironic. Also, the fountain was originally in front of Union Station, but it was moved after being knocked over by a beer truck. It seems that Carry Nation once smashed up the bar in the old Eaton Hotel, across from the pocket park where it once stood.
Farther down Douglas Ave., in Wichita, is another pocket park, where a Woolworth's once stood. One of the sculptures intended to be placed there is of a soda fountain with patrons seated at stools around it. It is intended to be a tribute to the soda fountain sit-ins of the 1960s.
