- Not near any major highway. From Hwy 115/Wilkesboro Hwy turn northeast onto Mountain View Rd. Drive about 2.5 miles, then turn north onto Love Valley Rd, which goes to downtown Love Valley. You can park your car outside downtown.

Town With No Cars
The town was sleepy when we visited, but we talked to a few locals who lived at Miss Kitty's boarding house. We were told that the town has live music every Saturday night and that the Allman Brothers played here at a big Woodstock-style festival in 1970.

Small, unique town with a Christian cowboy community chartered in 1963 in the Brushy Mountains. Founder Andy Barker wanted to create a real-life cowboy town in North Carolina. Automobiles are not allowed inside the downtown area; people still use horses and horse-drawn vehicles to travel downtown. Town rules are posted next to the town welcome sign.
