Bunyan with axe. Glenn Stone - Muffler Man

Just wanted to pass on that the Tucson Paul Bunyan got a sorely needed paint job a few months ago. Looks like they used automotive paint, as he's rather shiny. [Richard Trible, 08/14/2011]

[RA: This Muffler Man has been here since 1964, when he was erected by Leo Toia, whose family still runs the Hot Rod Shop. At times he's been dressed as Santa, and once as a member of ZZ Top.]

Tucson Bunyan with candy cane. Glenn Stone - Muffler Man

I am a recent convert, and during the holidays, my seven year old son James and I went to view our local muffler man, about 15 miles distant from our home. he was holding a candy cane instead of the reported double-bladed ax.

His eyes need painting. In the car on the way to see him we had been talking about zombies, and it was hard to NOT see this guy had been turned into one. His hat needs painting too. It's a very faded yellow. Otherwise his colors are good. a repair to the base, in his right foot.

He has no personality at all. But he is well cared for. [Maura McMillan, 02/04/2001]

Glenn Stone - Muffler Man

He is indeed a famous person around town, usually accidentally discovered by the uninitiated as they drive by him on their way to somewhere else...incidentally, around Christmas time, his handlers equip him with a candy cane. Rumor has it that it is a common hazing trick to have new police officers report to Glenn and Stone to handle reports of a "huge man with an axe." Rock on, big man. [The Richman, 09/06/1998]
