Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania: Duquesne Incline
Ride up and down Coal Hill, just like the locals have since 1877. At the top there's a small museum, gift shop, penny press, and observation deck with a view of the city across the river. Originally designed to hoist an entire streetcar. It's pronounced doo-kane.

- Directions:
- From PA-837/Lincoln Hwy, just west of the Incline entrance, turn north at the stoplight onto Station Square. This road curves back around, and you'll see a large parking lot on the right. Park, then climb many stairs just to reach the base of the Incline.

The other Pittsburgh incline is the Duquesne Incline. Park at the bottom, then ride up and back for $5.00. At the top there is a museum, gift shop, penny press, and observation deck with a fantastic view of the city across the river.

This incline was built in 1877 and is quite fun to ride. It is exact change/cash only, so check the website for rates before you go. There is a change machine, but we saw many people exchanging $20 bills for quarters. No one wants to carry that around. The roads are confusing and traffic was pretty bad too. Parking is confusing as well as the "parking" signs are past the area you have to turn into. It isn't incredibly easy to turn around. But if you can get through all of that, this is a cool piece of history. The views of Pittsburgh are beautiful.
