Bretagne: Twin Towers Dog
Memorial is to a service dog named Bretagne (pronounced Brit-an-nee), a Golden Retriever, who assisted in the search and rescue efforts after the attacks of 9/11. Bretagne and her handler were also deployed to the sites of numerous hurricanes, floods, and other search missions.
Bretagne retired in 2009 and served as a "reading dog" at a local elementary school. She passed away just shy of her 17th birthday in June 2016. Bretagne was the last surviving disaster search dog who worked at the World Trade Center following 9/11.
