They've moved the statue a little bit back away from the fence and closer to the woods. It is next to a nature trail, but it was too hot so we skipped it. The city has some great food, much of it with Bigfoot-themed names.

I've seen statues like this in garden centers in Texas, so I wasn't super impressed with the actual statue. It is really cool that the town seems to have a lot of Bigfoot pride, though -- saw signs of it throughout town.

Jefferson was declared the Bigfoot Capital of Texas by town proclamation on February 12, 2018, by the mayor, Carey Heaster Jr. Jefferson has been the host city of the Annual Texas Bigfoot Conference, organized by the Texas Bigfoot Research Center, since 2001.
