An accompanying historical marker describes Post as an "advertising genius." In 1906 he used his cereal millions to buy the land that later became the town of Post, part of "his dream of building self-contained model community." A nearby historical marker recalls Post's unsuccessful attempts at "dynamiting to produce rain" for his namesake town.
