Victorious, Original Bozo
Thomas Jefferson "Bozo" Williams opened this restaurant in 1923. He had received the nickname Bozo in his childhood, for reasons that aren't quite clear. The arguably more famous Bozo the Clown wouldn't appear for another 30 years, yet that latter-day Bozo (Larry Harmon) challenged Bozo Williams' use of the name, appealing it all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court. The clown lost; Bozo Williams prevailed. People still come from miles around for Bozo's Hot Pit Bar-B-Q. The restaurant is now owned by Bozo's daughter.
