Hell's Half Acre - Vague Recollections It's too bad this place is closed and soon to be demolished. Several others and I worked there for the summer of 1970. It was a summer job and we had a good time way out there in no man's land. The only way to Casper was to catch a greyhound or drive. I am going to be taking a Wyo drive again. I worked in Yellowstone Park for a summer. [Norma Young, 07/04/2010]
Hell's Half Acre All of the buildings are gone, and the area is fenced off with barbed wire, but it is fairly easy to climb through. Stay on the paving and go beyond the concrete rubble to get the best views, but be very careful of rattlesnakes. Remember, do not walk through the grass, and stay on the pavement. Hell's Half Acre The restaurant is still there and boarded, the parking lot is big enough to park but the attraction and picnic area are fenced off. You can see where the local kids or someone has been climbing through the fence "a lot." Can't figure out why this closed, it is a great place! [Ronda D., 08/24/2009]
Hell's Half Acre We were going to Buffalo, Wy from Jackson Hole, on highway 20 and saw Hell's Half Acre on the side of the road. We were very impressed with the formation. Wind was making a "screal" sound all the time we were there. Almost sounds like people screaming. Really worthwhile visiting even though there is only one boarded=up building left.
