Boy and the Boot.

Boy and the Boot

One of several similar fountain statues of mysterious origin around the U.S. and elsewhere. This 4-ft. tall, hollow metal sculpting of a young boy holds aloft a leaky boot that dribbles continuous streams of water. Stands at the fire department.

The Boy and the Boot

Not to be found at the location mentioned (fire station).

[Ellen Rodgers, 09/25/2016]

The Boy has water running through his Boot, so the fire station takes him indoors after the summer to prevent freeze damage.

The boy is missing.

Boy and the Boot Statue

We arrived at the fire station on the morning of September 6, 2014 to an empty pedestal. We were informed by a young firefighter that the Boy and the Boot statue had been stolen the night before while the firefighters were out on a medic call!

[Amy, 09/06/2014]

Update: Two local college students confessed to the theft and returned the Boy and the Boot. The town says it will make them reinstall the statue.
