Moxie Bottle House

The largest wooden soda bottle, 32 feet tall and 10 feet in diameter is owned by the Matthews Museum of Maine Heritage in Union ME. The bottle was constructed by the Moxie company in 1905 to use as an advertising gimmick at food expositions. It was later used as a kiosk for selling Moxie at Manchester NH in Pine Island Park for about 10 years and finally sold and moved to become a summer cottage across from the park.

It was acquired by the Museum in 2000 and moved to Bristol, Maine, where it is currently undergoing renovation/restoration to be put on display at the Museum in its own building. The Museum currently houses the largest public Moxie display in the country, with several hundred items. It is open during July and August and hosts Moxie Day during the Union Fair and Blueberry Festival each year in late August. Union is the birthplace of Moxie inventor, Dr. Augustin Thompson. The Museum is currently raising funds to build the new building.
