There is a big ape on a sign right near where Bragg Blvd crosses onto Fort Bragg. I don't know if I'd describe it as gigantic. I've driven past it for years and I remember it being bigger too. But as I stopped to take a picture I see that it's only about 6 feet tall. The ape's days may be numbered as a new interstate by-pass will be coming through. The store and property are for sale and I hear a McDonald's may be built on this site. So get out and see the ape while you can!
[John Reidy, 04/03/2010]- Fayetteville, North Carolina - Big Ape
Gigantic black ape statue atop a tall sign post for a car sound and stereo place on Bragg Blvd., in between Ft. Bragg and Fayetteville, NC. Has been up since the early '60s, I think, along with the numerous old pawn shop balls and spires of that time period, which run up and down Fayetteville's Bragg Blvd.
[Christina, 05/19/2005] Walk around to the street to come up close to the tower.

The Fayetteville, North Carolina - Eiffel Tower [2013 tip] is wrong that you can not get right up to it. All one need do is walk to the sidewalk and walk around to get right to the structure.

It's the loneliest ape in Fayetteville. That statue type is somewhat common and modestly sized, but this monkey's blown-out sign perch is amusing.
