Whispering Pines Pet Cemetery is on top of a hill just south of Binghamton, NY. It's a lovely place. I was curious as to why a Kentucky Derby winner was buried there along with two other horses, so I did a bit of research. Exterminator was purchased by Willis Sharpe Kilmer, a newspaperman, horse breeder, entrepreneur and marketing pioneer. Sun Briar and Suntica were two of his other horses.
Kilmer aggressively promoted his uncle's Swamp Root Tonic. Their headquarters and factory were in the six-story Kilmer building on Lewis and Chenango streets in Binghamton, right across the street from the Marconi Radio tower.

Turn left at the Ross park sign onto Morgan Rd. Drive past the park. When Morgan Rd veers right, continue straight onto Gardner Rd. Drive a quarter-mile. You'll see the cemetery on the right, with the parking lot just beyond it. Exterminator's monument is toward the back, near the trees.
This is a great park. Lots of things to see. There is more than one gazebo.

- Binghamton, New York - The Story Garden w/Blossom The Black Angus Bull
The Story Garden encourages taking a moment to stop and read a story. They also have "Peter Rabbit's Garden," where they are growing some herbs and vegetables for the local food bank - sweet! Definitely a place to check out, rain or shine! Good to see for all ages - and kids will love it! We don't have kids (yet) and we enjoyed it immensely!
