Great place to stretch your legs. Grab your camera, pay for period costumes for the kids, and run around this recreated town taking pictures and making memories. Walk the 1 mile to the homestead and talk with your kids about SD blizzards and walking to school. Visit both churches. Play cards with a cheater. Pretend you're L.I. Wilder, and let your bonnet flap down your back as you run through the prairie. Worth the time. Located very close to I-90.

Some of the buildings are in such disrepair that they are unsafe to walk in. The ceilings are falling down on you as you walk through. They have a lot of items that are not period correct, looks like yard sale items. Other parts are great.
[Rick McDonald, 05/19/2013] Amazing little town. The saloon serves popcorn, peanuts and soft drinks. They have a little show you can stay and watch. The Dances With Wolves movie props are great. The only thing they are missing are the 1800 people working and living in the town.
[S Clausen, 06/20/2012]The big green car-sign that lured travelers from I-90 to the Pioneer Auto Show has been toppled by a freak storm. Hurricane force winds snapped the wooden posts that had held the car aloft since 1972. The car, an extended and supersized version of a 1926 Nash, tumbled 30 feet, bent in the middle, but somehow survived. Pioneer Auto Show has vowed to put it back up within a couple of months -- this time supported by steel I-beams.
