Possibly the world's largest ball of twine rolled by one man: James Frank Kotera, from 1979 to 2022. Weighs over 12 tons. After his death the ball was moved from his back yard to this spot.

- This is in Highland Township in northern Wisconsin, not the town of Highland in southern Wisconsin. From US-2 in Brule turn south (no stoplight) onto WI-27. Follow WI-27 south 10 miles. Turn right, west (no stoplight) onto County Rd S. Follow County Rd S for four miles. The twine ball will be on the right. Pull into the transfer station, just before Highland Town Hall.

Built in 1964, it covers nearly 10,000 square feet and recreates in miniature 895,000 buildings. The Twin Towers were added in the 1990s, and they're still standing in the little city.

Queens Museum

- Directions:
- Take the #7 train to 111th St. in Queens. Walk downhill on 111th St. (south) for four blocks. Just after you cross under a bridge, you'll see rockets to the left; you can cut diagonally through the parking lot to get to them. Walk past the rockets, bear to the right at the supersonic jet sculpture, then make a left at the geodesic dome and walk across the bridge over the Grand Central Pky. To the right is a gray, boxy building, the Queens Museum; its front entrance faces the Unisphere.

It was the longest, tallest railroad bridge in the country -- until a tornado destroyed it in 2003. The impressive wreckage, viewed from a platform, has made it even more of a tourist attraction.
