Road Sign Art

Field review by the editors.

Mount Vernon, Illinois

This chaotic mess of highway signage (and one traffic light), deliberately massed into a piece of outdoor art, has no explanatory plaque that we could find. The inclusion of several signs familiar to roadsiders (Historic National Road, Lincoln Heritage Trail, etc.) suggests that it may be a commentary on the crazy state of modern vacations. Or it might be a statement about the stress of modern road travel. Or maybe it's just art.
