Urban Putt (Closed)
Denver, Colorado
Opened in September 2019, this Burning Man-inspired all-indoor mini-golf is a spin-off of the original Urban Putt, which opened in San Francisco in 2014. Owner Steve Fox lives in the Bay Area, and chose Denver for his second location because that's where his wife is from.
Two 9-hole courses incorporate many familiar local sites as golf hazards, such as the Air Force Academy Chapel, Blucifer, the Red Rocks Amphitheatre, the Colorado State Capitol transformed into a mini-golf windmill -- as well as oddities such as mechanical aliens, a two-headed fortune teller, and a 40-foot long Jules Verne submarine with an infrared periscope. There are buttons to push, levers to pull, cranks to turn, and so many noises and visual effects that players probably don't care about their golf scores.
Urban Putt operates a full kitchen and bar, which once belonged to Colorado boxer Jack Dempsey. Golfers can take their drinks along and park them on small tables at every hole.
