Duct Tape Capital of the World

The 7th annual Duct Tape Festival is underway in Avon, Ohio, the Duct Tape Capital of the World. This year's event -- held every Father's Day weekend -- has an unlikely Grand Marshall: Teresa Scanlan, Miss America 2011. She's not from Ohio and she's not attending because of a contractual obligation. She genuinely loves duct tape. In fact, Teresa spoke on stage during the pageant about her love of duct tape, and when she was later invited to the festival she enthusiastically agreed. Teresa's highlight moment will come June 19, when she rides in the festival parade atop a float made of duct tape.

It's highly unlikely that next year's Miss America will share a similar passion for an adhesive product, so this is probably a once-in-a-lifetime event. [RoadsideAmerica.com Team, 06/17/2011]

Duct Tape Festival

The Avon Heritage Duct Tape Festival is held Father's Day weekend. In 2005 it will be held June 17-19, 2005. Giant Duct Tape sculptures, "Duct Tape Dad of the Year" award, Duct Tape parade, appearances by the Duct Tape Duck, and anything else you can imagine related to Duct Tape.
