Monte Vista, Colorado: Movie Manor Motor Inn

This place was awesome, and totally unique. Not only do you get a drive-in movie from your motel room window, but if you leave your curtains open, people on the way to the snack bar get a porno. I don't like to brag, but I did a pretty good box office.

We're so impressed that this motel has found a niche and made it work for decades, and that the adjacent drive-in movie theater apparently thrives when most others were bulldozed years ago.

As the sun sets majestically behind the Rockies, customers at the Movie Manor Motel sit in their rooms and stare in the opposite direction -- at a pair of huge drive-in movie screens. When it gets dark the film features start rolling. Soundtrack audio and snack bar announcements are piped directly into rooms through suitably lo-fi mono speakers.

A drive-in movie theater, restaurant, and motel all-in-one. Most motel rooms face the Star drive-in screen with sound directly piped into the rooms. Motel patrons can actually sit in comfortable chair, in their room, and watch the drive-in movie. It's been a very popular place for over 40 years and still going strong.

A friend of mine was telling me about a Motel where out of the window at the foot of the bed, you could watch the Drive In movie, free and with the speakers in the ceiling of the room. It was somewhere in Colorado, the name of the town escapes me. I think it may have been Monte?
