Yellow Fever Steamer Monument This monument was presented to the city of Gallipolis, Ohio on August 18, 1932. The carving states that the object on the pole is a Broken Rocker Shaft of the Steamer John Porter, that brought yellow fever to Gallipolis from New Orleans Aug. 18, 1878 causing 66 deaths.
