Knight's Spider Web Farm
So happy we stopped!
[Furly, 07/27/2015]World's Only Spider Web Farm
Knight's Spider Web Farm is run by Will Knight and his wife, and is the only spider web farm in the world. Orb Weaver spiders spin webs inside specially-built frames housed in sheds. When the webs are completed, the Knights spray them with white paint and "harvest" them onto dark colored rectangles of wood. After a protective coating is applied, the webs are ready to hang proudly next to your copy of the Mona Lisa or Dogs Playing Poker. Mr. Knight told me they harvest about 600 webs a year, or about 13,000 since 1977. The shop is open daily, although webs are only woven and harvested between June 15th and October 15th.
