Directions:: Arata's Farm. On the east side of Hwy 1, either 6.5 miles south of the intersection of Hwys 1 and 92 in Half Moon Bay, or 4.5 miles north of the intersection of Hwys 1 and 84 in San Gregorio. Turn east onto Verde Rd to drive to the farm entrance.

Pumpkin Farm Labyrinth

The San Mateo County Planning Commission has voted to allow Arata's Farm to continue operating as a tourist attraction, but there will be some sacrifice. The Commission approved the farm's giant hay bale labyrinth -- complete with a resident minotaur -- because it could be considered a form of agricultural storage. But the Commission denied a request by farmer Chris Gounalakis to continue his farm's popular gladiator battles, at least for 2011. Everything will be reviewed in 2012, so there's hope that then the gladiators could return.
