Over one thousand dead animals, posed as if alive, fill a two-story museum. Also has exhibits about Bonnie and Clyde, and Star Trek. Open since 1981. Exterior photo ops include a giant bear and gargantuan "museum" sign.

Directions:: One mile east of Bellevue Rd in Red Chute on the south side of US Hwy 80\79. Or -- I-20 exit 33. Drive north on Hwy 157 for one mile. Turn left (west) onto US Hwy 80\79. Drive 4.5 miles. On the left.

Touchstone Wildlife Museum

Touchstone Wildlife Museum is filled with modern dioramas with large hand-painted backgrounds depicting the natural habitat of the life-size animals only inches in front of you, behind glass. Well over 1,000 animals from all over the world as well as other historical items, from Indian artifacts, to American war relics, etc.

Touchstone Wildlife Museum

There are museums, then there are wildlife museums -- then there is the Touchstone Wildlife Museum. It has over 1,000 mounts on two floors: large and small animals, birds of all kinds, and reptiles. They are all neatly displayed behind glass enclosures, well described and documented. Absolutely awesome. It takes a couple of hours to completely tour it. Cameras welcome. The only other place I know of that is remotely close to this is Cabelas in Kansas City.
