- Park at the Blue Earth Rest Area, which has a historical marker about the Stripe (Although it doesn't call it that). Then you can, very carefully, walk out to the Golden Stripe, which is just before the merge where the Blue Earth Rest Area access road rejoins I-90.

Just as the Golden Spike marked the meeting point of the Transcontinental Railroad, the Golden Stripe marked the meeting point of the transcontinental freeway. Partly paved over in 2006; restored in 2023.

Stripe is just before where the ramp from the rest area merges with the Interstate- but be cautious, we got stopped walking in the median below by State Patrol and asked to get away from the highway! Cool piece of history!

It's a bit hard to see, but cool to read about it on the historical marker and then look for it.
[Deepa Whipple, 08/28/2016]The Golden Stripe is not there anymore. According to the ranger I spoke to, when I-90 was repaired, it was removed as they felt it was a distraction. All that is left is a plaque outside the rest area.

We contacted MnDOT and they confirmed that the Golden Stripes are still there, although they might not be very visible on a bright, dry day.
