The Lions Club of Brainerd erected a drinking fountain next the sidewalk: a colorful lion statue usually found in kiddie water parks. Stick your head in its open mouth to take a drink.

Stick Your Head in a Lion's Mouth
The Bunyan and Babe statues are long gone. But the Lion drinking fountain worked great! The Bunyan flashlight tower is on the site of the original Northern Pacific depot built in 1871 (now a law office).

[Rebecca Keeler, 04/02/2016]The Lion head is still on S. 6th Street, but may not be there much longer. The site is under construction for a new business, and the head had been disconnected from the water supply. It appeared that maybe the Lion was going to be removed from the site.

The Lions Club put up this water fountain in 1968. You stick your head into the lion's mouth to take a drink of water. It still works!
