Dana Point, California: White Squirrels of the Pacific
Since 2007, a colony of white squirrels has frolicked in the small oceanfront park of Dana Point.

- Directions:
- Dana Point Harbor Drive, then turn west onto Island Way. Drive across the causeway. At the end you'll see the statue of Richard Henry Dana. The squirrels can be seen to both the left and right of the statue, along a quarter-mile stretch of Dana Drive.

Christmas afternoon picnic for the White Squirrels of the Pacific. Still going strong.
[Jim Jordan, 12/29/2023]There were a bunch of squirrels coming out of the rocks as soon as we walked up, but no albinos. They were spotted and had white spots here and there, saw one with with a white leg.

We found white squirrels as well as some speckled brown ones. They live in the rocks along the channel leading to the marinas, near the statue of Richard Henry Dana Jr.

Just a tip: we found one white squirrel located in the rocks just below the grassy area. They are ground squirrels. You will not find them in the trees.
