The Koshare Indian Museum The museum features works of Pueblo and Plains tribal members. The building, located on the Otero Junior College campus, is a museum with an attached kiva that is built with the largest self-supporting log roof in the world. The building was built in 1949. Founded by James F. "Buck" Burshears.

The "impossible" ceiling is made of 627 short logs stacked atop each other in a circular pattern so that they somehow support themselves. Visitors to the museum have to stand beneath it -- and it weighs over 40 tons -- but it hasn't collapsed in over 60 years.
