Giant Santa and Mrs. Claus [Signs]
Christmas, in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, has (50 or 75 ft) giant statues of Santa and Mrs. Claus, and a few little souvenir shops.
[Vince Opper, 08/05/1998]On a family vacation back in the 70s my parents took my brothers and me through Christmas, MI (not very far from Easter, MI) in the Upper Peninsula. They had a gift shop there with a caged black bear outside. My parents gave us each a nickel to put in the dispenser so we could feed the bear. I freaked out when the bear came toward me and ended up throwing the pellets at the bear. I understand he also drank pop out of a glass bottle. I would like to know if they still have the bear up there.

June 2006 - This old tip is debunked, to a degree. The "giant statues" were actually two-sided painted plywood signs, perhaps 35 ft. tall. Not bad, if you aren't expecting a 75 ft. tall giant statue. The Santa was still standing as of 2002, according to photographer Jeff Byrne (and still there in 2007, according to "Greg").
