Moab Museum of Film and Western Heritage
With the red cliffs of Moab combined with the Colorado River winding its way through the canyons, it's no wonder this area was a hotbed for moviemakers. The museum, located in the lower level of the Red Cliffs Lodge, does a terrific job of highlighting the wonderful films shot in the area. The museum showcases movie posters, scripts, behind-the-scenes production photos, and many props. No less than 120 movies and hundreds more TV shows, specials, and commercials have been filmed in the Moab-Monument Valley area.
One of the more notable was 1990s film Thelma and Louise, with its iconic ending scene of the car driving off a cliff into the canyon. The Thelma stunt plummet dummy used in that movie scene is on display in the museum.
Admission is free.
