Lake View Cemetery

In addition to the sites already mentioned, Lake View Cemetery, "Cleveland's Outdoor Museum," also boasts having the largest concrete-filled dam east of the Mississippi. You cannot walk across it, but you can see it from Edgehill Road. [Frank Abbott, 11/18/2011]

Hanna Crypt Welcome Mat. Crypt with Welcome Mat

Lake View Cemetery in Cleveland is like a museum. It includes James Garfield's, Elliot Ness's and John D Rockefeller's graves, among many others. There are historical marker signs for many graves, but there's one interesting crypt.

The Hannah family crypt is set back just a bit into some trees; it wouldn't be noticeable except that there is a welcome mat at the curb and then a cement walkway up the crypt. [Bob Spalding, 08/29/2010]

Lake View Cemetery - Pres. Garfield, Elliot Ness, 9/11

Lake View Cemetery is more an outdoor art museum than a final resting place. You can visit President Garfield's monument as well as markers for Elliot Ness and John D. Rockefeller. I just took my children to see the new 9/11 Monument (opened 9/11/04). I was very pleased with the design, which honored victims of New York , Pennsylvania, and the Pentagon. It is a peaceful place. My children (13 and 6) have been there five times. I have a few of my nieces and nephews along on a couple of these trips and all the children enjoyed our trips! It is interesting to see the beauty of some of these older monuments. [Robin, 10/24/2004]
